My Haunted Travels with Lingering Souls Paranormal, Part 1

How It All Started

Have you ever felt like someone was watching you, but no one was there? Have you ever been pushed or touched from behind? And when you turned around no one was behind you. Or have you ever felt dizzy, nauseated, and the atmosphere in the empty room felt thick?

That’s what it felt like to me when I entered the Plymouth House in Plymouth, California! I came here with Lingering Souls Paranormal Team from Stockton, California. It was the first time I would officially conduct a paranormal investigation with the team.

I won’t sugar coat what I am about to say…Lingering Souls Paranormal is a shit magnet for all things paranormal! Whether the spirit encounter was good, bad, dark, or evil, more often than not, something unexplainable and scary happened to us during the investigations.

The team is made up of family members. A husband, wife and son team. It’s also comprised of two friends. One is their producer and camera guy and the other is a psychic-medium.

They reached out to me and invited me to come and attend an investigation inside a haunted restaurant known as Oddfellows Tavern, but before that investigation, the team took me to the Plymouth House.

My job was to film the team, be a part of the investigation, and showcase their work on my radio show at KSCO Radio AM 1080, in Santa Cruz, on the Ghosts N Grub show.

Whether you believe in ghosts or not, at the very least, I hope you find it entertaining. Every encounter with the paranormal thoroughly goes through a debunking process. Each piece of evidence scrutinized until there are no more items to check off the debunk list. What’s left is considered unexplainable and possibly paranormal.

Tako-Taco Tuesday!

First things first! Let’s talk about some food! When I’m at home and not feeling it for going out to eat, I create food in my home kitchen.

This was a ceviche style sushi taco made with Tako (octopus). In the ceviche mix: cilantro, fresh squeezed lemon juice, Tako, cucumbers, green onions, and tomatoes.

I made a pot of rice and then turned it into sushi rice by adding a mix of rice vinegar and sugar. After the rice cooled down it was ready to use.

I cut the seaweed into circles, about the size of a coffee mug rim. I laid out a thin layer of rice to cover the entire circle of seaweed. I placed the ceviche mix in a straight line in the center of the circle, then folded it in the shape of a taco.

I added sriracha sauce on top! Toothpicks help hold the taco together.

The Billy-Bob Roll

I have some friends who are not fans of sushi, especially if there is raw fish involved! So, to make sure my non-fish friends felt included in the meal plan, I came up with the Billy-Bob Roll.

Hot dog rolls have been around for a long time and can be made in many different ways, but I keep mine simple.

I used a large all beef hot dog. I rolled it in sushi rice, maki style (seaweed on the outside) and I put a splash of mustard on top. When I plated the food, I added relish, sauerkraut, and a small dish of chili con carne.

Lodi Beer Company, Downtown Lodi, California

I visited a place called Lodi Beer Company, which was recommended by Lingering Souls Paranormal. It had a full bar, their own craft beer, and food! And, of course, if it’s LSP recommended, that’s a clear indication that it’s also haunted!

I had the ribeye steak, brussel sprouts, and mashed potatoes. It was very good. Grilled to medium rare perfection, with sautéed mushrooms on top. Yum…

The building was old, built with bricks, and comes with a ghost(s) that likes to hang out near the bar and restrooms!

This ridiculous burger is named the “5 Napkin Burger”! Holy crap! First of all, I did not order this. However, I will try it when I return to this place. It comes with an onion ring, cheddar cheese, bacon, BBQ sauce, and the mac n cheese was added as an extra item.

This is what Lodi Beer Co. is known for…its beer! And, like all other craft beer places, you can buy flights or buy individual pints.

Plymouth House, Plymouth, California

Of all the places I have investigated on my own or with Lingering Souls Paranormal, the Plymouth House was the most puzzling, frustrating, and frightening…all at the same time.

As I had mentioned earlier, this house was the first place and first time I would co-investigate, with a team I met for the first time! The house belongs to Lingering Souls Paranormal’s producer and camera guy, Trevor!

This house was the place that caused a lot of problems to our equipment. The forces within the walls of this house, somehow wiped out an entire days videoing by short circuiting my SD card and video camera. It caused the acid from batteries to ooze out of an SLS camera, and an entity attempted to take over my body or harm me in a way that could have rendered me injured.

We know at least one person died in this home prior to Trevor living here. And, we know Native Americans once lived on the land and area. There was a century’s old cemetery, a stone’s throw away from the house, along with an old mine shaft in the middle of a vacant field.

Trevor also learned that either seances or Ouija board activity had taken place by the previous occupants of the house.

The house was active with poltergeists, doors opening, sounds of foot steps, shadow figures, disembodied voices, other unexplainable noises, and spirits that roamed the hallways and rooms.

The Old Town Cemetery

Many of the grave sites are from the 1800’s and comes with on-going paranormal activity. The cemetery sits in a residential and commercial area that is fairly close to the Plymouth House. It would not be surprising at all if the haunts at the house coincide with the haunts at the cemetery.

Up Stairs Room of the Plymouth House

This section of the house was where I believed the dark sinister spirit or witch resided. The picture above was the second investigation we conducted months after the first investigation. And, in the two times I have investigated this house, it has been the most active room in the house for me personally.

In the above photo, you see me standing next to a chair. The SLS camera caught a spirit sitting in that chair. I placed red arrows where the spirit was detected. It was touching my arm, sending tingling sensations up and down my arm.

The Possible Culprit

In the above photo we caught an entity on the SLS camera in the upstairs room during the original investigation. That entity was also setting off the Rem Pod in the background. Both marked with red arrows.

It’s a possibility this was the entity that caused the batteries to malfunction in the above pictured SLS cam, and was responsible for the malfunction of my SD card and video camera.

Shortly after this photo was taken, other entities appeared on the SLS cam, and one of them grew to a size so large, the other entities disappeared off the screen. It was at that moment, that entity purposely attacked me. Attempted to either go through me, take over me, or physically harm me. After that incident the SLS camera batteries oozed out acid, and my video camera went dead, along with the SD card inside the video camera.

I felt drained, nauseated, and I wanted to vomit. When I was being attacked, I could feel tingling sensations throughout my body, and as the spirit tried to enter me, my entire body went numb for a few moments.

A Restless Closet

This section of the house is the apartment used as an Air BNB. Many people who stayed here reported that they had to close the door at night. When opened there was a feeling of uneasiness, strange unexplained noises, and we caught an entity in the here on the SLS cam.

Fried Batteries

The batteries basically imploded and the acid came oozing out. This had never happened before to this SLS camera or any other camera that belonged to Lingering Souls Paranormal. It was also a first for Lingering Souls Paranormal as a team. This happened twice to this camera, but only at this house. It has not had this issue on any other investigation outside of this residence. The  SLS cam and batteries were thoroughly inspected, scrutinized, and went through a series of debunking possibilities, but in the end was deemed unexplainable.

It Stares at You When You're Not Looking

I was not present during this investigation of the Plymouth House! This was one of the bedrooms on the first floor. The photo was taken by Trevor D. Lingering Souls Paranormal producer and camera operator.

If you look at the upper left corner of the door, you can see an upside down white face. Almost like a mask. This type of paranormal activity is common near or on Native American land and the manifestation is widely believed to be tribal in nature.

Hi Paul, that’s some scary stuff. I love the foodie booze travel though, because Chris and I travel to various brewery’s, bars, and dives on our road trips. Lodi is also a great red win appellation. It’s fun to read your travels.
