Las Vegas!

Sin City

Las Vegas! Sin City! Adult Disney! A place where the inner you becomes the real you…away from your loved ones and your boss from work, who have no idea what you mutated into, so long as you don’t post it on social media!

We become the degenerates we snub our noses at back in the real world, as we pretend to be someone we are not, when we are with family and coworkers. That mild mannered, loving husband, loving wife, boyfriend, girlfriend…the professional you! Lies!!! All lies when we cross the state border into Nevada! Somehow we transform into raging party fools and toss all sensibility and caution out the window.

Once run by the mob, now run by the extreme wealthy; Las Vegas is constantly and consistently in a state of change and growth. Every couple of months something old is torn down and something new is built. Sometimes old is only a year old!

There is a lot to do in Las Vegas! In fact, too much. It can overwhelm your senses and stamina. And if you are not prepared for sleep deprivation, over eating and drinking and excessive gambling or night clubbing, then you are going to run into issues!

My advice to you is take it bit by bit with no set-in-stone agenda/plans and try to keep your posse to a small group of people. Ideally, 3 to 4 people is a good size group. Any larger than that, the group will splinter, and you will hate each other by the time the trip is over.

Since Vegas is so vast, I narrowed this trip down to just a few places that I enjoyed drinking and eating, that I’m sharing this time around. There will be other stories told in future articles.

Joe's Seafood, Steak and Stone Crab

My first stop is an old favorite of mine. I come to Joe’s almost every trip I take out here. It’s located inside the Forum Shops at Caesar’s Palace. It’ s not a cheap place to eat, but worth my time and money. Because it’s on the strip and in tourist central, dining attire is somewhat relaxed. It’s always a good idea to dress business causal and smart, but I have seen people in shorts and t-shirts here. Perhaps a snooty look by the staff, but other than that, the restaurant seems okay with it.

This is the reason I keep coming back to Joe’s: stone crab!! This plate of claws (9 in all) is a whopping $54 dollars. The Vegas strip knows how to steal your money right in front of you. However, the service and these sweet and tasty claws are undeniably amazing! Stone crab, in my opinion, is the best crab to eat on the planet. And I’ve eaten dungeness, king and soft shell crab. All good! But for me, stone crab is at the top of my list.

Joe’s bone-in, dry aged (over 30 days) rib eye steak is sensational. I like mine rare, as close to raw as I can get it. The marbling fat and pink, somewhat bloody flesh, is a melt in your mouth experience you will not soon forget.  The combination of the fat and meat meld together; tantalizing the tongue to a heavenly orgasm!

Along with the stone crab and rib eye, I washed everything down with a couple of dirty martinis with Tito’s Vodka!

O' Sheas Casino

O’Sheas is my all time favorite place to hangout after dinner! Gambling, drinking, live bands and beer pong!! It doesn’t get much better than that. Located at the center of the strip. It’s easy access to everything else on the strip makes it a great place to be.

Located inside the Linq Hotel and Casino. http://www.caesars.com

SOJO Ramen

SOJO Ramen is a place way off the strip. About 7 miles off. 7377 S. Jones Blvd. Suite#106, Las Vegas. It recently opened this year by the same chef and owner of SOHO Japanese restaurant in the same shopping center.

SOJO Ramen is dedicated to all things ramen. The pork broth is made daily and their ramen noodles are fresh made.

The best part about eating off the strip is that prices are normal. My colleague and I spent a total of $35 dollars here!

This is the SOJO Champon. It’s their biggest seller. It has fresh noodles, Tonkotsu soup base, onions, carrots, corn, garlic chives, wood ear mushrooms, miso glazed ground pork, pork chashu, shrimp and fish cake. I had them add the soft boiled eggs.

It’s a hearty meal and best on cold nights. You will never go back to ramen in a package after eating this bowl of ramen. Savory flavors blended together in this pork soup pairs well with hot sake.

Beer Park

Beer Park is a great place to be on sunny afternoons. It’s part of Paris Las Vegas and sits on the roof top over looking the strip. They open at 11am and is the perfect place to nurse a hangover.

I had their tater tots with bacon and sour cream on top and beer cheese on the bottom. And I washed it down with their version of a Michelada.

Good hangover eats! And it has two full bars, TV screens, lots of sports to watch and games to play…all on the deck top.

Guy Fieri's Vegas Kitchen

This behemoth of a burger is laced with mac and cheese, bacon, lettuce, onion and tomato.  It could be two meals, but I ate the whole thing that night!

This is a burger on steroids! The cost of it was just as big. $21.50 to be exact! Another on-the-strip gouge you price!

However, it was a food porn experience like no other! The melting mac and cheese, a medium rare beef patty and of course, thick slices of bacon. You can’t go wrong with this burger! I see it as an opportunity to over fill my stomach so I have something to soak up the alcohol I’m about to indulge in. Mainly Jameson!

So long Vegas…until the next time we meet! More food, more booze and more good times for another story to be told in the near future.
