Beach Street Cafe

Old School Cafe

Since 1979, Beach Street Cafe has been a Watsonville fixture. An old school place where farmers, truckers, tourists and locals came to eat.

It closed in late 2011, during the recession. Now under new ownership, it has come back to life with all the food (and more) we have come to know and love over the decades.

In the early years, Beach Street Cafe’s customers were mainly truckers, picking up their pay load from places like Green Giant and other cold storage facilities. Local farmers would come in and gossip the news of the day. And, perhaps by accident, the occasional tourist passing by to get to the beach would stop in.

You can’t see the cafe from the freeway, and if you’re not paying attention, you could drive right past it without knowing it, because it sits, unassuming, in an industrial and farmland area where semi trucks park.

Today, Beach Street Cafe is booming with business and the food is better than ever!

The Portuguese Scramble

This awesomely tasting dish is a delicious mouthful of eggs, linguisa sausage, tomato, onion, bell peppers and jack cheese. Appealing to the eyes, and oh, so mouthwatering good!

If you don’t like linquisa as a scramble try it as sausage and eggs! It’s just as good!!!

La Mexicana

The La Mexicana is a scramble with eggs, chorizo, jack cheese, sour cream and salsa.

This dish is like eating an open-face breakfast burrito without the tortilla. It’s a popular dish here.

If you are sensitive to spicy foods and know this will send you to a long session on the toilet, praying for death, then I would recommend something else.

Biscuits and Gravy

The biscuits and gravy is an old staple here.  Fresh, soft and fluffy biscuits covered in a creamy-silky, stick to your ribs, gravy! Really good!

Waffles

Sometimes I’m in the food mood for a plain and simple waffle. No frills, just syrup and butter please!

If you want some frill in your breakfast life, it can be made with banana nut or blue berry. Same goes for the pancakes here!

The Menu

The menu has a variety of breakfast and lunch foods. And, yes, vegetarian foods are on the menu!

Breakfast is served all day! And they have burgers, sandwiches and salads for lunch.
