Cassidy’s Pizza

Iconic Pizza Establishment

Pizza is almost everyone’s favorite food. Yeah, it’s an Italian thing, but pizza is the ultimate American comfort food. Synonymous with baseball, apple pie and all things Americana.

Cassidy’s Pizza has been here for over 45 years and is another great family owned restaurant! Every time I come here it brings me back to my childhood years.

My dad would take our family here at least twice a month when I was a kid. I fondly remember our family time at this dinner table. The fun, the laughter, the priceless family bonding time and the making of lasting memories. Such a lifetime ago, but so present in my mind.

Later on during my high school days this place was our hangout. A place to eat and play video arcade games with friends. Guys I’m still friends with today!

Remember These Games?

Asteroids by Atari! This game came out in the late 70’s and was installed in the arcade room at Cassidy’s Pizza.

It was an instant hit and played by kids over and over again. Coin after coin just to stay alive to keep playing the game.

Countless quarters going into the machine by a line a kids that snaked out of the arcade room and onto the pizza dining floor. All of us waiting for a chance to battle the stick figure rocks.

I know, this looks really elementary by today’s gaming standards and the graphics are laughable these days, but this game was a challenge and difficult to maneuver with only a couple of buttons and a joy stick

The other popular game during the same time period was Galaga! It showed up at Cassidy’s Pizza in the early 80’s.

The game was leaps and bounds beyond Asteroids because it was faster, in color and more challenging.

It also caused the line to back up with kids waiting for their chance to play. Again, I know, elementary compared to today’s standard.

But heck, it was fun to play in my day and it was all we had. So stop laughing!

Pizza!!

Pizza fresh out of the pizza oven is a mouth watering, sometimes “burn the roof of your mouth” experience. Even better, left over cold pizza for breakfast the next day.

There was a time I could eat an entire large pepperoni pizza! Now, maybe two or three slices, and I’m throwing in the towel.

These days combo pizza is my preferred slice to eat. I enjoy the combination of the meat, onions, mushrooms and bell peppers.

I guess we eventually do grow up into adults and eat adult type pizza. Because as  a kid, pepperoni or a plain cheese pizza was the only way to go.

More Pizza!

This “All Meat Pizza” is a carnivore’s delight! Vegetarians beware!! It could cause you to vomit or switch teams.

This grease oozing meat lover’s heaven is a great hangover pizza. The meaty flavors are slices of awesomeness. And you get the feeling your hangover haze is lifting as the greasy meat fills your stomach. The grease, re-coating the stomach lining for future hangovers.

And More Pizza!

Not to worry my vegetarian friends there is a pizza for you as well.  The veggie pizza actually tastes good! I would buy it more often if I was actually a real vegetarian.

And they have a salad bar for more vegetarian choices.

The Hawaiian Pizza! My mom’s favorite slice!

The acidity of the pineapple, up against the savory ham, does a delightful dance on your tongue.

Another good tasting pizza for you fans of pineapple and ham.

Mexican Combo Pizza

In true Watsonville fashion, the Mexican Combo pizza is awesome! Chorizo, jalapenos, olives, bell peppers, onions and three different cheeses. This pizza pie has the savory chorizo and the heat of the jalapenos. Some may argue it’s not hot enough but others, like myself, will sweat the entire time we are eating this slice.

Buffalo Wings

The good ol’ chicken wing! Or as they call them here “Buffalo Wings”!

Either way, I love them. I can eat a lot of these. They come in 6 or 12 pieces per order. I can down several 12 piece orders in one setting.

All I can say about these wings is that they are fricking good!

Stop by Cassidy’s Pizza and enjoy a moment of Americana!
