USS Lucid (MSO-458) was an Aggressive-class minesweeper acquired by the U.S. Navy for the task of removing naval mines that had been placed in the water to prevent the safe passage of ships. The ship was commissioned in 1955 and launched soon after the Korean War, it sailed on five Western Pacific cruises and served four tours in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. In 1970 the ship was decommissioned, stricken in 1976, and became privately owned.
When the ship became privately owned it was rumored to have been a party boat, a drug running boat, and even a mobile dentist boat. There are rumors of murder and other crimes on the ship as well. All of which have made the ship haunted with military crew members from the war, tortured souls of its criminal past, and even an apparition of a little girl who wanders the ship.
The San Joaquin Building Futures Academy (SJBFA) in Stockton, California is where the USS Lucid is currently docked. Members of the Stockton Historical Maritime Museum have been responsible for its restoration process of being returned to its glory days.
In the meanwhile, we gained access to investigate its hauntings and we were not disappointed! Lingering Souls Paranormal, Lingering Souls Paranormal-Nevada Chapter, Santa Cruz Ghost Hunters, and Haunted Tales of a Foodie Traveler Podcast Show, conducted a joint investigation back in November 2021.
Psychic and Empath Cherie Pruitt, had a moment of being jumped by a nasty bitter female spirit that attached herself to Cherie. The process of the jumping was caught on video. It took days to rid of this particular spirit from Cherie. Clairvoyant, Psychic, and Medium Brandy Tricas had to extract the entity.

As you already know, these teams love to eat before investigating…so members of Lingering Souls Paranormal (the host team) shared one of their favorite local spots in Stockton to eat. And, as always, the food was delish!

It was a no brainer for me to go directly to the ribeye steak! Medium rare accompanied with a mix of brussels sprouts, string beans, and zucchini. But I was also eyeing their rack of lamb and porterhouse steak (thanks Lillian W for the pics). Food that I will definitely try when I return to this place. Ribeye won that night.

This brunch delight was tasty. Known as the brunch fries it had bacon strips and a gooey egg on top. It’s not a bad hangover meal either.
Paranormal Family
They say that dining together as a family is one of the most important household functions for cohesiveness. Paranormal families are no different. Some of the best team building sessions occur over a meal together.
Food brings all different walks of life together under one common human event…eating! And doing it together brings us closer together. Lingering Souls Paranormal’s routine is to have a meal together before investigating, especially when it’s a joint investigation with other teams.
It’s the only time we get to catch up with each other after being apart for so long. We discuss our strategy for the night. We catch up on everything we had been doing since the last investigation and we get to enjoy each other’s company, have a few good laughs, and drink some fine spirits! (pun intended…haha) ; )
Rem Pod and SLS Sessions
Natural ability versus science and technology will always be an arguable debate with believers and non believers. For us, it’s an added tool in our box of useful stuff.
Cherie and I have natural ability to sense and know when we have entered into a space that is occupied by a spirit or entity and all things unexplained. More importantly, these are abilities we have had since childhood and we keep perfecting our gifts every investigation we do together or apart. Constant study, experimenting, and experiencing these unknown forces keeps us learning and growing.
Our use of technology only helps us confirm what we are feeling, sensing, or hearing from the “other side”. It also helps to know when to debunk something and it also helps use understand when technology fails or malfunctions. And when all else fails, we still have, and still rely upon our natural abilities.

When an Empath Gets "Jumped"
The above photos show the moments before, during, and after being “jumped” or “highjacked” temporarily by a spirit; so it can either tell its story or cause chaos to everyone in the room. Empaths and others who are sensitive are easy prey for being jumped. Not because they are weak, but because they have to leave themselves somewhat open in order to sense or communicate with the other side.
The first photo shows Cherie moments before being jumped. The second photo shows the jump occurring. And the last photo shows Cherie fully engulfed by the jump!

We learned later that when Cherie wants to sit on the ground, it’s a bad thing, and we don’t let her sit on the ground anymore. It’s when she, as an empath, is the most vulnerable. So no more sitting. It’s when she is most likely to be jumped or highjacked.
We also have a safe word. The word is decided long before we start our investigations. As you saw in the video she did not know the safe word and that’s when it was time to get her out of that space.
Although Cherie was able to maintain control of herself after leaving the space she was in…the spirit attached itself to her for 3 days. It took the power of Clairvoyant, Psychic, and Medium Brandy Tricas, to extract the spirit from Cherie for good!

The Eeriness of The USS Lucid
It was a foggy, drizzly, and cold night when we investigated the USS Lucid. And there was a presence of eeriness and uneasiness in the air. Every section inside the ship had that feeling. Although we did not see full apparitions of ghosts as reported to us, we definitely had activity. Most of the recent apparition sightings and other paranormal activities were reported by people working on the restoration of the ship. A common occurrence when construction disrupts the spirit world.

The Bridge of the USS Lucid
I don’t know if we will get another opportunity to investigate the USS Lucid. The restoration project is moving along nicely and quickly. It’s unknown how much longer it will be docked. But if we do get another chance, there is so much more investigative work that could be done.
